Program Manager - Horticulture Sector

We deliver quality technical and professional services to support the domestic and export farming and food-producing community across metro and rural Australia and New Zealand.
We have a rare and interesting opportunity for an individual with experience in and a passion for the horticulture industry to join our Brisbane-based team as an industry expert and program manager.
This role involves liaising with and supporting a small team of local and regionally-based professionals across Australia, as well as engaging with domestic and international stakeholders.
To be eligible for the role, applicants are required to have, as a minimum, a tertiary education to diploma level (two years) in agriculture or food science with an additional three years' practical experience in horticulture or agricultural production systems; suitable experience could include work in agronomy or involvement in an on-farm supervisory or management role, or similar.
Other core skills for the role include:
Effective communication skills across a broad range of stakeholders; from primary producers to industry regulators
Ability to analyse and report on data metrics
- Proven commercial ability; previously supporting a business to achieve its goals and build its reputation for quality and integrity
Demonstrated ability to self-manage your workload as well as providing support and advice to a team of technical experts and auditors in the field
A drive for continuous learning and development
- Able to take ownership of the program and its outcomes
Demonstrated integrity with strong attention to detail and process
The ability to travel intrastate and interstate, as well as internationally (Germany) from time to time
- Excellent client relationship skills are crucial
This program management role will require the incumbent to also conduct some auditing duties.
Due to the nature of the program, it is expected that applicants will not currently have all the requisite skills or knowledge of the standards, auditing practice and compliance requirements. Therefore, AUS-MEAT is committed to providing a comprehensive program of training and support to the successful applicant to establish themselves in the role and gain the additional/supporting qualifications and skills required to be successful within the role.
